Oh, most certainly........like apples and oranges. The Shrimp soup will not only have shrimp base and pieces of shrimp, it will have the seafood stock that is much needed in the flavor of your dip. But, you can always make your own:
Shrimp Soup
';Easy and good. Garnish with fresh scallions.';
INGREDIENTS
2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
2 (14.5 ounce) cans beef broth
2 (10.5 ounce) cans shrimp consomme
2 1/2 cups frozen shrimp, thawed
1 teaspoon fresh dill weed
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons sliced green onions
DIRECTIONS
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine chicken broth, beef broth and shrimp consomme. Bring to a simmer, then strain.
Return broth to pot and add shrimp and dill. Heat through and adjust seasonings. Garnish with chopped green onion.
Some changes I would make to this recipe are, drop the dill and sprinkle in some ';Old Bay'; and parsley, instead of the beef base, use clam or lobster base, but these are just my opinions. Hope this helps you out tonight to make your fabulous Shrimp dip!Can I substitute cream of celery for cream of shrimp?
Any creamed soup would be okay, but it will alter the flavor a bit.
I have used a condensed shrimp bisque to replace cream of shrimp soup with good results.
It will be fine. It just won't be quite as seafoody, but the celery flavor will be good with shrimp.
yes their will be a big deference in taste.
cream of shrimp soup can be ordered by your store upon your request.
YES YOU CAN.
yes you can. u could substitute anything u like it all depends on if u like it.
trust me my dad is a chef
hope i helped
xoxo
All those Cream of Whatever soups are interchangeable. You'll lose a bit of shrimp flavor, but if you have real shrimp in there, that's fine.
I would use Cream of Chicken instead. The flavor is milder than the cream of celery.
