How do I create the cream border in this picture?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sethappleto鈥?/a>

In this picture, there's a strawberry cheesecake with a piped whipped cream border. How do I create this? What kind of cream should I buy (heavy whipping cream, light whipping cream, percentage?) and how long do I use my electric mixer for?

I assume that I'll use an ordinary grocery store bought icing piper to create the border.

Thanks a lot!How do I create the cream border in this picture?
There is a fabulous secret bakeries use for this...it's called Stabilized Whipped Cream. Here is the recipe:

CLARIBEL'S STABILIZED WHIP CREAM

1 tsp. plain gelatin

2 tbsp. cold water

1 c. whipping cream

3 tbsp. powdered sugar

1/2 tsp. vanilla

Add gelatin to cold water in small pan. Set this over boiling water until it is clear. Do not stir. Cool to room temperature. Meanwhile whip the cream until it is medium thick. Pour gelatin mixture into the center of cream while mixer is going. Pour in the gelatin all at once and continue beating. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until cream stands in stiff peaks. Use as frosting for cakes or dessert decoration. How do I create the cream border in this picture?
Just use heavy whipping cream. You will want to use the whipping attachment rather than the paddle, if you have the kind of mixer that has two types. Whip it until it gets just a little thicker, then put in a little vanilla extract and sugar to taste. Start the mixer at a low speed, then gradually increase it. Whip it until it gets to the consistency that you want. You can always add a little more sugar etc., so that would be up to you. One hint, don't use all the heavy whipping cream. If you happen to ';over whip'; it, just put a little of the whipping cream that is remaining in with what you over whipped and hand whisk it, and it will be perfect...

To pipe it, just use a regular pastry bag and attachment. That one has some kind of star pattern on it.
Whipped Cream Filling

1 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup confectioners' sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Beat cream until it begins to thick; add sugar gradually. Add flavoring; continue to beat until cream holds its shape when the beater is raised.

I would say this would do the trick. If not stiff enough just add a bit more sugar
I'd use the stabilized whipped cream recipe, and for that border you need a medium star tip for the piping bag.

Any good baking supply or party supply place will have it.
it looks like a large star piece was used to pipe that.... idk how to explain it very well on how to make them... just press hard in one place and then go up and over..... i do this a lot on cakes... idk what to use... i'd say like whipped cream
I do not do this kind of work any more...

but have fun looking

You just need to mix together container of whipped cream, 8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 box powdered sugar. That'll do it.
your the star piping attachment but you want to use non dairy whip cream like cool whip or it will melt
